Getting around Grandview

Grandview's whole appeal is that it's easy to leave and easy to come home to. One interstate does most of the work — here's how the town connects to the rest of Kansas City.

One highway, most of the trips

The spine of Grandview is Interstate 49 — the upgraded route that older locals still call Highway 71.

I-49 runs north–south right through town, carrying you up to downtown Kansas City in about twenty minutes and south toward Belton and Harrisonville. Route M-150 handles the east–west trips, and I-470 and I-435 are both only a few miles out, which puts the whole metro loop within easy reach. Most of Grandview's shops and restaurants cluster along this corridor and Blue Ridge Boulevard, so day-to-day errands rarely mean a long drive.

Built for driving, walkable in spots

Like most of suburban Kansas City, Grandview is a car town — a vehicle is the practical way to get to work, groceries, and the lake. The exception is the Main Street pocket downtown, where the shops, restaurants, and the Farmers' Market are close enough to park once and stroll.
